About Aventus Consulting

Aventus ConsultingBUSINESS PROFILE

Aventus Consulting (ABN: 64 982 839 673) was established in June 2009 by Giulio Pinzone, and is based in Melbourne, Victoria. The business hit the ground running by winning contracts with two of Australia’s largest oil and gas exploration and production companies.

PHILOSOPHY

Aventus Consulting aims to put the ‘E’ back into HSE!

In an industry heavily focused on the management of safety, it is all too common to find that health, safety and environment (HSE) personnel lack knowledge of the industry’s specific environmental requirements (theoretical, practical or regulatory). Not only can this have environmental implications on the ground, it can also have serious impacts on an operator’s reputation, from a public and regulatory viewpoint, and potentially financially through fines issued for breaches of management standards.

Environmental management does not end once an environmental impact assessment (EIA) document is approved by government. In fact, it’s just the start. Aventus Consulting will get you to that start line and see you right through to the finish.

BRANDING

Read below for the meaning behind the business name and logo design of Aventus Consulting.

The Name

The name ‘Aventus’ came about by Giulio’s desire to reflect his family’s heritage in his exciting new venture. Both sides of his family hail from a group of seven islands north of Sicily, Italy, collectively referred to as the Aeolian Islands (Isole Eolie). The islands are so named because the ancient Greeks, who colonized the islands in 580 BC, believed they were home to Aeolus, the mythical god of wind.

Giulio searched for Latin words reflecting this history. With the help of family, Giulio finally stumbled upon the perfect word; ventus, the Latin word for ‘wind’, in reference to the Aeolian Islands. By adding the ‘a’ in front, it becomes a word meaning nothing, yet still retains meaning – perfect in today’s business world of fancy names, acronyms and logos.

Design

The design of the logo encapsulates many aspects of the vision Giulio has for the business.

The font used in the logo is kept simple so as not to detract from the logo in general, but also to reflect Giulio’s approach to his business dealings – honesty, transparency and free of burdensome, unnecessary complications.

The green background obviously reflects the real nature of the business – the physical environment. The rounded edges to the rectangle were chosen to reflect the often ‘soft’ side to environmental science – an area where there are often greys in an otherwise scientific arena dealing with black and whites.

The blue waves were chosen to represent two things; wavy and blue enough in colour to represent a breath of wind
(ventus), but also to represent the ocean, below which we find most of the oil and gas that supports the upstream petroleum industry (offshore basins account for 95% of Australia's total oil resources). The wave represents a fluid, dynamic motion, always moving forward, much in the same way in which Giulio plans to carry Aventus Consulting.
