BASIS OF SERVICES
Aventus Consulting is uniquely positioned to act on its philosophy because its owner, Giulio Pinzone, has spent 10 years working in the EIA and management arena, with experience in both the consulting and in-house upstream petroleum industries. This provides Giulio with a unique combination of knowledge and skills that are hard to find in any one consultancy. Aventus Consulting has the ability to prepare impact assessments using industry knowledge and experience and guide clients through the regulatory and community consultation minefield. Importantly, Aventus Consulting has the practical experience to oversee the implementation in the field (whether this be a terrestrial or offshore pipeline, land-based or offshore drill rig, offshore platform or seismic vessel), standing clients in good stead to achieve their environmental objectives.
For many of Australia’s junior and mid-cap oil and gas explorers and producers, who cannot sustain a specialist staff-based environmental team, hiring Aventus Consulting presents the perfect solution. Aventus Consulting is available for short-term field assignment, in-house support, or long-term project support. Take advantage of Giulio’s knowledge of the day-to-day industry operations with the ability to hit the ground running. Giulio’s network of contacts within Australia’s key oil and gas regulatory jurisdictions also ensures access to the right regulators at the right times.
SPECIFIC SERVICES
Aventus Consulting offers upstream petroleum environmental approvals and management services. What exactly does this mean?
For these onshore and offshore activities:
-
Pipeline route selection and construction.
-
Drilling.
-
Facility development/installation.
-
Seismic, geophysical and geotechnical surveys.
…the following environmental services are offered:
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) - impact assessment undertaken at various levels of detail as determined by the Commonwealth government under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act 1999, or environmental legislation under the State and Territory jurisdictions.
Environment Plan (EP) - detailed EIA and practical on-the-ground management document required in offshore waters under the Commonwealth Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage (OPGGS) Act 2006 and State-based mirror legislation.
Environmental Management Plan (EMP) - detailed EIA and practical on-the-ground management document required for onshore petroleum activities, managed under different legislation in each state depending on the activity.
Workforce Education - preparation and implementation of workforce education and induction programs, either office-based (e.g., drilling ‘pre-spud’ type meetings) or on-site pre-work construction. This element of environmental planning should not be overlooked – it is often the only opportunity to educate construction contractors.
Construction Supervision - supervision of on-site construction activities to ensure day-to-day compliance with environmental management commitments.
Auditing - on-site auditing against various environmental management documents and broader best practice environmental management requirements.
Stakeholder Consultation - preparation and dissemination of project information for the general public, government agencies and non-government organisations, be it via phone, email, the internet, one-on-one meetings or higher level group interaction. Comprehensive community consultation (and not simply token notification) is now a requirement of the Commonwealth Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage (Environment) Regulations 2009 and its associated policy document.
In-house Environmental Advice - with several years experience working in the in-house offshore upstream petroleum industry, Aventus Consulting can assist clients through the provision of in-house environmental advice on day-to-day operations or project-specific environmental issues.
Regulatory Reporting - compilation of data and writing for annual corporate environmental reports, compliance reporting (e.g., end-of-campaign, lease or licence conditions, etc).
