Aventus Consulting is a niche environmental consultancy, whose key objectives are to partner with the upstream oil and gas industry to obtain project environmental approvals and to guide its clients through on-ground environmental management. Put simply, Aventus Consulting is focused on upstream petroleum environmental approvals and management.
While the Australian energy industry is being guided towards lower emissions intensive power generation, such as increased incentives for the use of renewable energy, oil and gas will long continue to form a strong basis for the country’s energy requirements. The increased use of gas in particular will play a key role in transitioning to a lower carbon emissions future.
Australia's primary energy consumption is projected to increase by 1.4% per year to 2030, with the share of gas projected to increase to 33%, up from a current 21% and crude oil set to increase from 33% to 36% (ABARE, 2010). Total energy production is projected to increase by 3.2% per year (ABARE).
All this requires more exploration (surveys), more extraction (drilling), more processing (production plants) and more transmission (pipelines)
This means the need for sound environmental management in the upstream petroleum sector will remain and intensify, as government legislation, regulations and policies continue to be developed and refined as the need for petroleum products increases with a rapidly growing population. All the while, community expectations for high quality and transparent corporate environmental management increases. This is where Aventus Consulting can help.
